Brooke USA’s Divertimentos & Dressage

"Help Brooke USA Foundation significantly improve the health, welfare and productivity of working horses, donkeys and mules and the people who depend on them.  Divertimentos & Dressage is an exciting event that brings together people who genuinely want to make a difference by raising funds for Brooke USA Foundation’s projects that alleviate the suffering of working horses, donkeys and mules and the people who depend on them for survival in the most vulnerable communities worldwide and right here in the United States."

I am volunteering with this wonderful group and remain inspired to support all sentient beings.

May this invitation weave a collaboration for the event or beyond for the love of equines that need us.

I remain grateful for your time and thoughtful review with our request,

Kathleen McGarry

In the Field & Flow With the Wild Nokota Herd

Kathleen, along with Dr. Lance and Jeannette Wright, founders of Flowtrition, began a program for the wild Nokota herd in North Dakota in August, 2018 and again in 2019.

Flowtrition is a gentle touch that allows for the integration of life experiences stored in the body as tension. Finding rapport to encourage growth and evolution of the individual, helps shift a holding pattern of tension due to an emotional or physical trauma, past or present. The perception may be we have moved on; however, the body may be responding as if it is still occurring, as every experience is communicated to us through the nervous system. The healthier the nervous system, the healthier the communication. Giving the nervous system the opportunity to change through this rapport becomes beneficial on a physical, spiritual and emotional level.

Dr. Lance worked with the stallions of the show Cavalia, as well as Frédéric Pignon and Magali Delgado and the crew to bring them into harmony and alignment. Templado, the famous stallion from the show, was transformed through the work of Flow.

We introduced Flow to the Nokota herd for the first time and the horses welcomed this offering as we stood in the grace of their presence, there was a beautiful exchange of heart and wisdom that moves beyond words.

"Lance's gift to the world is a body of work - profound and pure in its transformational healing for animals and humans. Like a modern-day alchemy, Flow begins to demystify our commonly-held assumptions and beliefs about the nature of healing. You will be awed and thrilled when you begin to experience its results!"

Racist Ephemera & Memorabilia Found

“My first July in Ocala, Florida was a punishing one beyond the everyday 95 degrees. On a soft wander into a "Vintage Mall" at the end of a June day, I was swept away by the pong of dusty western gear, vintage farm equipment, old frames, abandoned dining room furniture and upholstery that never held grace. Held in cubby holes and cabinets of once-loved granny-grandeur style objects, I meandered to the back, which seemed even more absent of treasures or collectibles until I gazed upon glass cases that held the most despicable, horrifying ephemera and memorabilia from the Jim Crow era, slavery and hatred, most egregiously of the South.

"Whaaaaaat??" as an out breath to no one.  Looking at these objects I was treading in an unfamiliar realm that held every pulse until I looked closer.  Appalling rage does not begin to cover the expansive rings of emotion skyrocketing in my heart.  I have never, ever in any part of my life seen any of these objects-- ever.  The most shocking pieces were two alligator letter openers with the head of a black child protruding from its mouth. Yes, it is a real thing, I later learned--slave owners would steal or "borrow" the babies of black mammies as enticement for the alligators to hunt their skins. Where in any history book or cultural attaché tribunal was this little detail reported?  My iPhone fingers could not move fast enough to record the egregious, caricatured racist artifacts, so that I would be believed when I spoke of what I was witnessed.  Leaving this "vintage" mall, in a stupor and twisted shock of an awakening, I kissed the sky in a promise to do something.  I would find a way to purchase these objects and donate them somehow where they would be honoured, understood and most importantly released from this environment of dust and despair.

My first effort was the library d'Google to ask about racist objects and the world of a heinous past reveled by me, falling like ticker tape in an endless parade of revelations into my consciousness.  I read about the Jim Crow Museum.

Founded by Dr. David Pilgrim, who is best known as the founder and curator of the Jim Crow Museum -- a 20,000 piece collection of racist artifacts located at Ferris State University, in Big Rapids, Michigan. The museum uses objects of intolerance to teach tolerance.

Dr. Pilgrim's writings, many found at www.ferris.edu/jimcrow, are used by scholars, students, and civil rights workers to better understand historical and contemporary expressions of racism.

The goal has been to take objects that were meant to be harmful, meant for racial propaganda that were used as evidence for what occurred in the past and evidence for what we should not repeat.”

Remembering Wholeness:

Getting to the Root of Modern Dis-ease

Dear Friends,

I invite you to join the Getting to the Root of Modern Dis-ease: Merging Ancient Wisdom with Modern Science to Remember Wholeness summit, October 13‑18, 2019.

The laws of physics tell us that we are all made of more space and energy than matter. Many know and understand that some forms of energy can cause physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual dis-ease. In this summit, we will explore ways to get to the very root of modern dis-ease.

Kathleen McGarry, Spirit-Horse Equine Facilitated Guide and Eponaquest Instructor will be presenting Listening to the Field of the Heart and the Wisdom of Horses. Kathleen will be joining host Dr. Gina Sager, along with Eduardo Duran, Ph.D (Healing the Soul Wound) HeartMath's Rollin McCraty, Ph.D and more than 20 other physicians, scientists and energy medicine practitioners from many different traditions. During this summit you will learn foundational tools to envision new ways of being in the world, and how to become an empowered advocate for your own life.

Getting to the Root of Modern Dis-ease:

Merging Ancient Wisdom and Modern Science to Remember Wholeness

Oct. 13-18, 2019

The importance of keeping an energetic balance in this busy, seemingly "connected" world can be compromised, resulting in a kind of "dis-connect" from the things that keep us well and whole. In this summit, you will learn to look for the cause, the very root of our Dis-Ease; whether of mind, body, heart or spirit. What if the root cause of our modern Dis-ease is this dis-connection – from heart, our true self, nature, or what you consider your Divine source?

Invite the awareness you hold within to create what you need to be well. Join us, and reconnect to heal your body, mind and spirit.

Until soon with gratitude,

The Ride Home

Pine Ridge Smoke Signal ~ Spirit Horse.jpg
Heyokah Reflections.jpg

In 2012, on behalf of The 13 Indigenous Grandmothers, a 1,500 mile journey with horses was created to remember the harrowing exodus of the Northern Cheyenne People, who were held against their will in Fort Reno, Oklahoma in 1878. Lead by Chiefs Little Wolf and Dull Knife, 300 Cheyenne escaped reservation life to return to their homelands in Lame Deer, Montana. A small band of riders came together to honor their journey and the work of the Grandmothers. Kathleen participated in and helped find the funds for this commemorative ride. www.theridehomefilm.com & www.grandmothershorses.com

The Nokota Horse Conservancy

I met Christine McGowan, of the Chester Springs Preserve and her Nokota horses and it forever shifted my understanding of horses.  The Nokota are direct descendants of the original herd created by the great Lakota chiefs and tribe that were bred to be with the elders and children, as well as faithful war ponies.  Known to sleep in the tipis with the family, these horses were as gentle as they were robust, seeking human companionship with a unique and curious nature.  They are unlike any other horses I have experienced and I have created photographs and events to raise funds for their hay in winter and pasture expansion.

Journey

journeybynight.jpg

An art installation in Trafalgar Square created to bring awareness to the Helen Bamber Foundation in London and the journey of a trafficked woman.  The Foundation seeks to rehabilitate those who have suffered extreme human rights violations, cruelty, trafficking and torture.  Each of the seven shipping containers, was created by a different artist to represent an aspect of a trafficked woman's harrowing journey and experience. World renowned sculptor, Anish Kapoor, created the container known as "Stigma". Curated by Emma Thompson and Sam Roddick, the installation was seen by 15,000 people in London in two weeks; thereafter it traveled to theHague, Vienna, New York and Madrid and eventually, changed the laws on trafficking so that the women were considered victims instead of criminals.  Collaborating on this project, opened the awareness of how the horses could help assist the women in healing their deep wounds of abuse and suffering.  I left my London life and made the leap to the desert in Arizona for an internship and apprenticeship with Eponaquest to become an Equine Facilitated Instructor and create a program for trafficked women.

Rising American Indian Nations (RAIN) & Ute Tribe

I traveled to the Southern Ute Tribe to collaborate with Ute Elder, Forrest Cuch and his wife, Shauna, in offering programs for tribal members to reignite their relationship to the healing wisdom of horses.  The Uinta Springs Ranch is now a center that provides services for youth and families, incorporating programs and services that correspond to the medicine wheel and the ancient concepts and holistic approach to healing ancestral and historical trauma, substance abuse and other problems facing native people.

Working with the sacred nature of horses brings people into connection with their emotional power, familial and tribal values, culture, ceremony, spirituality, and language. The horses help to release anxiety and stress and ease conflict. Individuals will develop responsibility, integrity, leadership skills, and respectful boundaries, while understanding the relationship the tribe had with the horse through songs, stories, dances, and art.

Remembering Horses ~ Crossing Borders to Ancient Kinship

Kathleen is collaborating on a program in Wales for young, Kurdish refugees, who are seeking to rebuild their lives after the war in Syria. These young men are from a devoted horse culture and are severely displaced as refugees seeking asylum and suffering from PTSD. Together with dear friend and gifted Equine Facilitated Psychotherapist, Miranda Carey, a 4-phase retreat and pilot will be offered with the horses to restore the well-being, confidence and hope, for these young men.
